Today, on my way back into the office from lunch, I took a shortcut and attempted to hop over a low (~3 foot) cinderblock wall. I say attempted, as I didn't quite make it. My right toe caught the wall, toppling me forward, with my left shin acting as the pivot point as the rest of me tipped forward and over. Luckily for my hands, my iPhone, which I happened to be carrying, took the brunt of the damage. Screen is nice and shattered. My shin is a mess. Ripped my jeans open, and I've got about eight inches of ugly scrapes along the front of my shin. All of this of course happened in the view of three co-workers, who were all very concerned, and no doubt silently questioning my judgement. Awesome!

This is Salty the sea otter. Grandma Bonnie brought him back from
Alaska. Vi carried him all over the house this morning and gave him
lots of hugs. Thanks Grandma!

Sick again

What started as sniffles this weekend has turned into a really nasty
cold. All 3 of us are miserably sick. Come on universe! It's no longer
cold season. Give us a break already! Every time Vi is sleeping
well, she gets sick and we go back to square one again. So
frustrating!!!

11th Anniversary

On this day 11 years ago, I married Scott. He's the love of my life,
my best friend, and now the father of my child. I love you with all
of my heart dearest!

She didn't cry

A possibly life-changing event happened tonight. I put Vi in her crib,
left the room, and she rolled over, cuddled with her Tigger, and sang
a little song. No crying or screaming or jumping up and down. She just
went to sleep. For the first time in 13 months, bed time was a
pleasant and easy experience for all involved. *sigh of relief*

Well, you've survived a whole year with Janie and I as your parents, which is no small feat. Thank you for being the most awesome, cutest, most fun little kid I could have ever hoped for. Sure, you're a lot of work, and Janie's tired all the time, and life in the last year is completely different from how things were before. But despite missing being able to sleep in on weekends, and all the diapers, and the occasional screaming fits (mostly yours), your mom and I are happy that you're here. This morning, when you clearly said 'Hi daddy' when I came into view, I don't know if you know what you're saying yet. But it's amazing to watch you learn and grow on a daily basis, and I'm happy to be a part of it.
